An experimental study on the effect of gas injection configuration on flow characteristics in high viscosity oil columns

Gas-viscous liquid bubbly and slug flow are very common in petroleum, chemical, bioengineering, polymer, food processing. However, there is a major knowledge gap two-phase research the design of gas injectors/distributers high viscosity oil systems. The present study investigates effect injection methods columns containing oils (i.e., realistic liquids), more specifically using 360 Pa · s 240-mm diameter column. effects that radial positioning, number nozzles, their distance from each other have on structure viscous liquids presented detail. Electrical capacitance tomography (ECT) used to extract experimental data. Void fraction, bubble velocity, frequency, film thickness, length were measured analyzed at different positions. It has been observed increases significantly by 0.3 m when nozzle located next wall pipe. Bubble velocity also increase 0.217 m/s 3.6 m, respectively, with increasing flowrate multiple points used. Increasing between increased bubbles' 1.2 m. Bubbles' frequency (at higher rate) increased.
